Our second visit on a wet and windy November day, involved us photographing and documenting the processing of the pressing of the apples. The completely natural affair starts with the apple press that cleans every apple for inspection with the ones that are not up to scratch being taken out of the operation.
They are then pressed with the 100% apple juice being poured into the tanks for fermentation. The washing tank was handmade by son with parts being sourced from all over the UK and Europe – some of which came from an old fishing boat. The machine is totally unique and is perfectly suited to how they work and have worked for the past 100 years. This is a further expression of the commitment and dedication to their lifes work.
